News Beat: Mitt Romney- 'Jokes & One Liners at Al Smith Dinner- With Barack Obama'

SourceNews Beat- Governor Mitt Romney, speaking at the 2012 Al Smith Dinner.
"Mitt Romney, Barack Obama to trade jabs at Al Smith dinner

The two presidential candidates took a break from the caustic criticism of the campaign trail to score political points with biting humor last night in New York City."

I guess going casual for Mitt Romney is not wearing a tuxedo, or a tuxedo that he personally owns. Perhaps Mitt takes his tie off before going to sleep and just sleeps in his slacks and sport coat. Mitt during the Republican primaries in the winter and spring this year of course had this reputation as being too stiff and too formal. So he sort of overcompensated and started wearing what young cool people call mamas jean. Which are somewhat baggy denim jeans that you might see your grandmother wearing around the house. Men, good-looking like in Mitt's case or not so good-looking, look horrible in baggy jeans.

Baggy jeans or mamas jeans, would be like country music singer wearing bandanna and a LA Raiders cap at a country music festival. It just doesn't seem right. If you're going to wear jeans especially denim jeans, they should fit you and you should fill them out. But Mitt doesn't have to worry about fitting in at an event like the Al Smith Dinner where all the men there probably own their tuxedos and perhaps even go to bed in them. Mitt is right at home where he belongs at an event like this. But at a sports bar in Cleveland or some place, he would probably look like the astronaut who landed on Mars by accident and had no idea where he was.

CBS News: 'Mitt Romney and Barack Obama: No Difference'

Source:CBS News- President Barack H. Obama: D, Illinois- 45th POTUS.

"Mitt Romney and Barack Obama are the same.  They have the same policies and are both puppets for Bilderberg and the CFR.  No matter how the media spins it or what the candidates say, they are not representing real change.  There is one candidate that does represent real and true change in America, change for the good and we must all put our differences aside and support this man any way we can."

From CBS News

Trying to tell the difference between "RomneyCare" and "ObamaCare" is like trying to tell the difference between a couple of lemons. You have to feel each of them, look closely, get into the details. But on paper they are essentially the same plans. Expanding private health insurance through tax credits, patient protections and requiring that all Americans pay for their share of their health care.

But other than health care reform, telling the difference between Mitt Romney, depending on which Mitt he decides to be based on what day it is, how the wind is blowing, how the weather is, which clone he decides to be that day, it can be very difficult without x-ray vision. They are very different on Iraq and Afghanistan and Iraq. Mitt believes we should stay there, Barack believes we should get the hell out.

Mitt and Barack are different on deficit reduction. Mitt apparently believes that we can cut the debt and deficit, raising taxes on the poor and focusing on around 15% of the Federal budget. Or 555B$, he doesn't want to eliminate all of that by the way. Thats the non-defense and entitlement parts of the Federal budget. President Obama believes everything should be on the table, except raising taxes on the poor.

They are different on growing the economy. Mitt believes in more tax cuts and subsidies for corporate America and rich people. I don't have a problem with the tax cuts, if it comes with eliminating tax loopholes. Which Mitt views as tax hikes, apparently Mitt believes that if you eliminated all taxes on the wealthy and corporate America. And then eliminate all of the tax loopholes as well, Mitt would call that tax hikes, because you would be giving them less money. (Talk about fuzzy math)

I believe that's what would come under George W. Bush's definition of "Fuzzy Math". The President believes the way to grow the economy is to rebuild the country, its public infrastructure, infrastructure investment. Developing a national energy policy that would expand and create new energy industries in America. Putting millions of Americans back to work, as well as incentivizing people to spend money in the country. Including tax cuts for the middle class that need tax relief. Here a few areas where Mitt and Barack unfortunately are similar and why I'm disappointed with President Obama as a Liberal Democrat and it relates to social issues and civil liberties.

Mitt and Barack both support the Patriot Act, indefinite detention and the War on Drugs. You expect Republicans today to take these Big Government positions. If Mitt Romney was truly a Liberal as critics in the GOP call him and if he's a Liberal, the majority of people living in the Bible Belt are Muslims. If this was the case, then Mitt Romney would be against these things. If Barack Obama was a real Liberal and not a Moderate Liberal he would be against these things as well. And this is where the President has been disappointing and why Liberal Democrats are taking a look at Gary Johnson the Libertarian Party nominee for president.

There's plenty of differences between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama that Ray Charles could see. I just wish there were a hell of a lot more. So to call them twins or clones, is inaccurate. Mitt Romney already has a clone but his name is Mitt Romney as well. And that's the only twin or clone that he needs.

If you want to be a strong leader, you have a vision of where you want to take the country and have a feel where you want to take the country and believe you are right. And can explain and back up why you believe you’re right. Then you should tell everyone else that as well. Especially people who are considering voting for you.

Any politician can say: “I’ll tell you my plans once I’m elected.” But voters deserve to know why they should vote for you instead. Blind-voting is not healthy for democracy. We should be educated about the people we consider for high office.

Voters want to know why they are voting for someone, what they believe in, what they are for, because they don’t have to vote for you, they can vote for your opponent instead.

This has been my major disappointment with President Obama who so far in a lot of areas has taken the approach of “let others work it out and I’ll come in and save the day when they fail”. If candidates believe so strongly in what they are proposing, they should have the, well guts (to keep this clean) and be able to explain why they are proposing what they are proposing.

Politicians shouldn’t tell voters, that is if they are on truth serum:”Ask me what I’m in favor of once I’m elected. And if you are in favor of it, I’ll tell you.”

The differences between governing and campaigning, is once you’re actually in office, you are held accountable for the decisions you make. Whereas when you’re campaigning, you can theoretically say anything and promise just about anything. Knowing you don’t have to live up to anything you said and promise. And will probably be able to explain why you’re changing course once you’re in office.

Any politician could say: “The situation has changed and we must change course to respond to the new, circumstances effectively.” Or in Rick Perry’s case: “I was drunk when I originally took those positions and now that I’m somewhat sober, I know I was wrong and feel the need to change those positions.”

Or in Michele Bachmann’s case: “I was off my medication when I took those positions.” Well, actually Michele is still off her medication, but hopefully she’ll be back on it when this Congress is over and head back home to the institution.

But what strong leaders do, especially executives, whether you agree with what they did or not, is lay out where they want to take the country. And once they are in office, stick with that. Put their agenda through or most of it.

Whether you like President George W. Bush or not and I voted against him twice and still celebrate both of those votes annually and if anything, but at least you knew what he believed in. He was just wrong most of the time and didn’t understand that.

With Mitt Romney depending on which Mitt is speaking, moderate Mitt, Neoconservative Mitt, Religious-Conservative Mitt or establishment Mitt, it is: “Ask me when I’m in office and then maybe I’ll tell you if I believe I need your support in the next election. ”

What the media does instead to try to find out Mitt’s positions is talk to people he’s talked to and analyze his policies that he puts up on his campaign site. And analyze them for themselves, because he can’t or won’t explain what his own policies would do. And America deserves better leadership than that.

Los Angeles Times: Robin Acarian- 'Campaign Gaffes- Is Foot-In-Mouth Disease Always Fatal to Campaigns?'

Source: Watch The Daily- Barry, Bird & Mitt.
Source:Real Life Journal

"Texas Gov. Rick Perry had his “oops” moment on a Michigan debate stage.

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) mixed up actor John Wayne with serial killer John Wayne Gacy.

And Herman Cain referred to “Ubeki-beki-beki-stan-stan.”

The 2012 Republican presidential campaign has provided a bounty of infelicitous phrasings, wrongheaded assertions and embarrassing gaffes.

There was Perry’s memory lapse on the debate stage, which came to be known as his “oops moment.”

From the Los Angeles Times

"It's been a long, hard-fought, and gaffe-prone campaign. And now that it's just about over, it's time to take a look back at the bloopers that helped define the 2012 presidential race."

Hopefully for Republican Party's sake, they'll decide on their presidential nominee before the cows come home, but they are a little hard to predict right now. They seem about as divided as the Democratic Party in 1972 trying to figure out which leftist they were going to nominate. Between three Senators, Ed Muskie, George McGovern and Hubert Humphrey. The Democrats in 72  settled on Senator McGovern (the Bernie Sanders Democratic Socialist of his time)

Unless the Obama Campaign is successful in communicating the political gaffes of lets, just for the hell of it say Mitt Romney as their  GOP nominee, (I flipped a coin on that) it would be Mitt Romney, American voters will have forgotten about them, long before the general elections.

Good news that even though generally political gaffes made in presidential primaries aren’t remembered for the general election, whoever the GOP nominee is. They will still be as addicted to making political gaffes, as Jim Morrison was addicted to alcohol or Rosie O’Donnell is addicted to food.

Mitt Romney in the general election, will most likely say something like: "I’m not that rich, I only drive three Cadillacs, I don’t even own a Rolls Royce. I only own three homes, I’m friends with people who own ten. Really I’m not that rich, attack my friends instead." Mitt could give you the numbers of his super rich friends, they are some of my major contributors.

Or Rick Santorum, if Mitt Romney were to end his presidential campaign right before he’s nominated and Rick becomes their presidential nominee. Well first of all if that happens, Republicans will hand in their Republican affiliation. But if that were to happen, he may say something like: "Women shouldn’t be allowed to work." The GOP candidates right now are addicted to political gaffes. There’s more than enough to go around.

America I’m not sure is the only country in the world with a short attention span, but we have the shortest. Our attention span is a midget, so when some politician says something that five minutes later, they want to kick themselves in the balls for saying, or wish they hadn’t drank that extra scotch before giving that speech (take Rick Perry, to use as an example) they managed to say something else thats ignorant right after that that gets played up as well.

Our politicians and political candidates are only as good as the people who elect them, for the most part. From time to time we get leaders that stood out and look like God, at least in comparison to average Americans. Americans say dumb things all the time. But the difference is most of us aren't politicians and our well, bullshit isn't on the national news or web right after we say it unlike our politicians. Which is why they get to look like the assholes, because they represent the assholes who voted for them.
