"Since Tupac's "Changes" is already a remake of Bruce Hornsby's "The Way It Is", I figured it was a good idea to combine them for the best of both worlds.
The juxtaposition between Hornsby's verses about the Civil Rights movement and Tupac's verses about today's ghetto life, makes a powerful statement about ill treatment of African Americans then and now."

If you are not familiar with this song, Bruce Hornsby and Tupac Shakur got together to talk to produce a song about African-American life pre-civil rights movement and post-cvil rights movement of the 1960s. And talked about the changes that went on in the 1960s, but that even though progress was made, there was still a lot of work yet to be done. Not talking about a utopia or dystopia for African-Americans or Americans in general regardless of race, but talking about the state of the African-American community and American life in general. And this is just a great song.
